Maureen McGoughMaureen McGough specializes in high-end residential design. She maintains two studios - one in the metro Washington, DC, area, and a second in Scottsdale, Arizona.

An Allied Member of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) and the International Furnishings & Design Association (IFDA), Maureen has been practicing interior design since 1996. In 2000, she was chosen to participate in the National Symphony Orchestra Decorators Showhouse, where she designed the gallery hallway of the brick Georgian Revival house on Whitehaven Court in Washington, D.C. In 2005, she was chosen to decorate the Au Pair Suite in the Loudoun, Virginia, Arts Council Designer Showhouse. The house was designed after an 18th century English Manor House with eclectic art work and sculpture.

Two of the homes Maureen has decorated have been selected for the 2008 Terravita Home Tour in Scottsdale, Arizona. One of these homes will be featured in the March 2008 issue of Northern Virginia Magazine.

How Our Fusion Begins
"When I’m doing a decorating project, I start with something, a rug or a piece of art my client already has…or it might be an architectural element,” says Maureen, She creates symmetry with repeating shapes, motifs and bold accent colors and adds a mixture of materials and textures. With a background in sewing and tailoring, Maureen understands how a fabric should feel and fall. She is known for her unique window treatments that add design while allowing natural light into a room.

"Maureen McGough takes a traditional or transitional style and puts her signature touch on a room with accessories or pictures or creative ideas – whimsical and sometimes playful,” says one client. "The result is uniquely beautiful!
